STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...
The Seiko 2628-5120 is one of those increasingly difficult-to-find vintage pieces that demonstrates just how adventurous Seiko's design language could be during the early 1980s. Produced in 1982, this elegant rectangular quartz model combines classic Art Deco influences with unmistakably Japanese design sensibilities, resulting in a watch that feels both timeless and distinctive more than four decades later.
The silver Art Deco-inspired dial is undoubtedly the star of the show. Featuring a geometric sector layout, oversized Arabic numerals, and a beautifully integrated sub-seconds display, it offers a level of character rarely found in contemporary watches. The clean black sword hands provide excellent contrast against the dial, while the slim rectangular case creates a refined profile on the wrist. The overall aesthetic evokes the glamour of the Art Deco era whilst remaining unmistakably Seiko in execution.
This example is presented in excellent vintage condition and has clearly been well cared for throughout its life. The dial remains particularly attractive, preserving the crisp design details that make this reference so desirable among collectors. The watch is fitted to a new leather strap and paired with a vintage style Seiko signed buckle, to complete the look.
Powered by Seiko's reliable Calibre 2628 quartz movement, the watch has also been fitted with a new battery and is ready to be enjoyed immediately. As with many vintage Seiko quartz models from this period, finding surviving examples is becoming increasingly difficult, particularly those that have avoided heavy wear, dial damage, or replacement components. The combination of strong originality, attractive condition, and distinctive design makes this a particularly appealing example.
At Stonebridge Watches, we have a particular appreciation for vintage watches that offer something genuinely different from the mainstream. This Seiko is a perfect example: elegant, unusual, beautifully proportioned, and increasingly scarce in such well-preserved condition. Whether purchased as a daily wearer or as part of a growing vintage collection, it represents a wonderful opportunity to own a characterful piece of Seiko's design history.
