Founded in 1984 in Texas by Tom Kartsotis, Fossil began with a clear vision: to create affordable watches inspired by vintage American design. At a time when digital watches dominated the market, Fossil focused on classic analogue styling with retro details, helping to revive interest in traditional watch aesthetics.

Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, the brand expanded rapidly, introducing chronographs, calendar moonphase models, and a wide range of leather-strap dress watches that blended nostalgia with contemporary appeal.
