STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...
Seiko Unique 15 Jewels Black Dial Circa 1955
A beautifully preserved example of the early Seiko Unique, dating to circa 1955an important period in Seikos post-war evolution as the brand refined its mechanical watchmaking and design language.
This particular piece stands out with its striking black dial, a far less common configuration compared to the more frequently seen silver variants. The dial features minimalist baton hour markers and elegant hands, offering a clean, understated aesthetic that remains timeless today.
Housed in a slim stainless steel case, the watch wears comfortably on the wrist and embodies the restrained proportions typical of mid-century dress watches. The caseback is stamped with the early Seikosha S mark, a subtle but desirable detail confirming its correct period manufacture.
At its heart is a reliable manual wind 15 jewel movement, recently serviced in July 2025. The service included a full movement assembly tension adjustment and lubrication using high-quality watch oil, ensuring smooth and dependable operation.
The watch is paired with a new quality leather strap, fitted with a Seiko-signed buckle, completing the piece with a cohesive and considered finish.
A charming and increasingly collectible early Seiko, particularly in this rarer black dial configurationperfect for collectors and those seeking an authentic vintage dress watch with genuine historical character.
