STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...
The Tissot Seastar is one of those watches that perfectly captures the appeal of 1970s Swiss watchmaking. Combining a clean, understated design with robust automatic mechanics, it remains an excellent choice for collectors seeking a quality vintage timepiece that can still be worn and enjoyed every day.
This example dates from circa 1976 and features a striking silver sunburst dial that catches the light beautifully. Applied baton hour markers and polished hands maintain the watch's elegant and highly legible appearance, while the stainless steel tonneau-shaped case reflects the distinctive styling of the era. Measuring 37mm in diameter, the watch offers a modern and versatile wrist presence whilst retaining all of its vintage character.
Powering the watch is the Tissot Calibre 2481 automatic movement, a respected Swiss mechanical movement offering 24 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The watch is running exceptionally well, achieving accuracy of under five seconds per day during testing, a particularly impressive result for a vintage automatic watch approaching fifty years of age.
The watch is presented on a new leather strap which complements the silver dial and stainless steel case perfectly. The overall condition is excellent, with a particularly clean dial and well-preserved case, making this a fine example of a sought-after Seastar Automatic from the mid-1970s.
At Stonebridge Watches, we have always believed that some of the most enjoyable vintage watches are those that offer genuine quality, heritage and character without requiring a significant investment. This Tissot Seastar embodies exactly that philosophy. With its attractive proportions, reliable Swiss automatic movement and timeless design, it remains every bit as appealing today as when it left the factory nearly fifty years ago and is a watch we are delighted to offer for sale..
