Vintage Bucherer 956.534 Quartz Dress Watch
A wonderfully elegant vintage Bucherer dress watch, featuring a distinctive shaped gold-tone case and beautiful champagne sunburst dial.
The dial has a wonderfully clean and understated appearance, with applied gold-tone baton hour markers, slim matching hands and the Bucherer signature. With no date window or unnecessary detailing, the simplicity of the design allows the unusual case shape and sunburst finish of the dial to take centre stage.
Measuring approximately 27mm across excluding the crown, this is a compact vintage watch ideally suited to the slender wrist. The shaped case gives it considerably more presence than its dimensions might suggest, while its slim profile and warm gold tones give it the appearance of a classic Swiss dress watch.
The watch is powered by a Swiss quartz movement and the stainless-steel case back is correctly signed Bucherer, with reference 956.534 together with Swiss Made and Swiss Quartz markings.
Particularly pleasing is the presence of the original Bucherer brown leather strap and signed gold-tone Bucherer buckle. The strap naturally shows some signs of age and wear, but we feel its originality adds considerably to the character of the watch and have therefore chosen to retain it.
The watch presents very well for its age, with a particularly attractive clean dial and only the expected light signs of previous use to the case.
An unusual and extremely attractive vintage Bucherer that offers something a little different from the more familiar Swiss dress watches of the period. Elegant, understated and beautifully proportioned, it is precisely the type of smaller vintage watch we enjoy offering at Stonebridge Watches.
