STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...The Longines Admiral remains one of the finest examples of understated Swiss watchmaking from the 1970s, combining elegant design, robust engineering and timeless wearability. This particular Admiral Five Star Automatic Date is an especially attractive example, distinguished by its beautifully preserved silver brushed dial and striking red chapter ring, a subtle yet distinctive feature that adds character and visual depth while retaining the refined aesthetic for which the Admiral range is renowned.
Housed within a stainless steel tonneau-shaped case measuring 35mm excluding the crown, the watch perfectly captures the design language of the era. The case remains in excellent vintage condition, complemented by an original Longines signed crown and a clean, well-balanced dial layout featuring applied baton hour markers, centre seconds and a date display positioned at three o'clock.
Powering the watch is the respected Longines Calibre 505 automatic movement, a reliable Swiss movement that helped establish Longines' reputation for quality during this period. The watch is running strongly and exhibiting excellent accuracy when tested on our timegrapher, providing confidence that it remains a highly practical everyday vintage timepiece.
The watch is fitted to a new black leather strap and finished with a Longines signed buckle, creating a classic and versatile appearance suitable for both formal and casual wear. It will also be supplied with a Longines travel case, making it an excellent addition to any collection or a thoughtful gift for the vintage watch enthusiast.
At Stonebridge Watches, Longines remains one of the brands we most admire. Throughout its history, the company has consistently produced watches that combine exceptional quality with timeless design, and the Admiral perfectly embodies those qualities. We are particularly drawn to the vintage styling of this example, from its distinctive tonneau case to the beautifully brushed silver dial. The addition of the red chapter ring gives the watch an extra layer of individuality, setting it apart from more conventional vintage dress watches and making it a truly charming example of a classic Longines Admiral..
