STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...Longines Conquest Ref. 1504.1 Silver Linen Dial
A beautifully preserved example of mid-century Swiss watchmaking, this Longines Conquest Ref. 1504.1 stands out for one of the most desirable dial finishes produced by Longines during the 1960s the silver vertical brushed linen dial.
Unlike a traditional sunburst finish, the dial features a fine vertical brushed texture, often referred to by collectors as a linen dial due to its subtle woven appearance. As light moves across the surface, the texture creates a soft shimmering effect that adds depth and character while retaining the understated elegance for which Longines is renowned.
Today, linen dials are particularly sought after by vintage collectors, as they were produced in far smaller numbers than standard finishes and represent a distinctive design trend of the period. Surviving examples in clean condition are increasingly difficult to find, making pieces such as this especially appealing for enthusiasts of vintage Longines.
The dial is complemented by applied gilt baton hour markers and matching gilt hands, which contrast beautifully against the textured silver background while maintaining the clean, balanced aesthetic that defines the Conquest line.
The watch is housed in a slim gold-plated case measuring approximately 35mm excluding the crown, a classic vintage size that wears comfortably while preserving the refined proportions of a traditional dress watch.
Powered by a Swiss manual-winding movement, the watch offers the tactile charm and mechanical purity that collectors value in vintage timepieces.
Presented on a brown leather strap with a matching gold Longines signed buckle this Conquest remains a timeless and highly wearable example of Longines mid-century design excellence.
Here at Stonebridge Watches we especially like to seek out crosshair or brushed linen dials. They remain very sought after and it is not dificult to see why. Our previous edition sold very quickly and judging by our enthusiastic social media followers we expect the same level of interest again.
