The Omega Seamaster has long been one of the most respected names in Swiss watchmaking, and this beautifully preserved Seamaster Automatic Date Ref. 166.067 perfectly captures the elegance and quality that made Omega a benchmark of the era. Dating from around 1969, this reference features the distinctive cushion-shaped stainless steel case that gives the watch a strong wrist presence while retaining the understated sophistication expected from a vintage Seamaster.
Measuring a generous 36mm excluding the crown, this example wears noticeably larger than many vintage Omega models from the period, making it an excellent choice for collectors seeking classic proportions with modern-day wearability. The original silver sunburst dial remains in excellent condition and displays a wonderful play of light, complemented by applied baton hour markers, matching hands and a neatly framed date aperture at three o’clock. The clean, balanced design is timeless and remains as attractive today as it was over half a century ago.
Powering the watch is Omega’s highly regarded Calibre 565 automatic movement, one of the brand’s finest date-equipped movements of the 1960s. Renowned for its reliability, precision and desirable quick-set date function, the Calibre 565 remains a favourite among collectors and watchmakers alike. This particular example has recently benefited from a comprehensive service and overhaul and is performing exceptionally well, giving complete confidence for regular wear and enjoyment for years to come.
