STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...
The Omega Seamaster Chronometer reference 168.0061 / 166.0172 is a particularly attractive example of Omega's early 1970s watchmaking, combining the elegant proportions of the classic Seamaster with a later-generation, chronometer-rated automatic movement.
Presented in excellent vintage condition, this example features a beautiful original silver sunburst dial with applied baton hour markers, date aperture and the desirable "Chronometer Officially Certified" designation. The stainless steel case retains excellent definition, while the original Seamaster hippocampus remains clearly visible on the caseback.
At the heart of the watch is Omega's Calibre 1011 automatic chronometer movement. Introduced during the early 1970s, the 1011 is a 23-jewel, high-beat automatic movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and features a quickset date. This particular watch was professionally serviced in May 2026 and is running accurately.
The watch is fitted to a new black leather strap with an Omega signed stainless steel buckle, giving it a smart and understated appearance suitable for both everyday and formal wear. An Omega travel case is also included.
At approximately 35mm excluding the crown, the proportions are wonderfully balanced and very typical of the period. On the wrist it feels noticeably more substantial than the dimensions might suggest, while retaining the understated elegance for which vintage Omega is so highly regarded.
At Stonebridge Watches we are particularly fond of this reference. In fact, I have owned the same model myself for more than three years and it remains one of my favourite watches to wear. There is something particularly appealing about the combination of the silver sunburst dial, beautifully proportioned case and chronometer specification.
For anyone looking for a classic vintage Omega that can be worn and enjoyed rather than simply collected, the Seamaster 168.0061 is a particularly compelling choice.
