STONEBRIDGE WATCHES SAYS...
Omega Seamaster Automatic Ref. 14770 Rare Grid Dial
A particularly striking and highly unusual example of the classic Omega Seamaster, this reference 14770 stands out due to its exceptionally rare grid-pattern diala configuration seldom encountered in the vintage Omega world. While collectors are familiar with crosshair and linen dials from the period, this intricate geometric grid design is far rarer, creating a distinctive texture and visual depth that is almost never seen on Seamaster models.
The dial features alternating textured quadrants with both vertical ribbing and fine cross-hatched patterning, producing a subtle architectural effect that changes beautifully as light moves across the surface. Applied baton hour markers, slim black hands and the framed date aperture at 3 oclock complete the elegant mid-century design. The dial is signed Omega Automatic with the classic Seamaster script, confirming its place within Omegas celebrated dress-sport line.
Housed in a classic stainless steel case with slim lugs and understated proportions, the watch embodies the refined aesthetic that made the Seamaster range so popular during the 1960s. Inside beats a reliable Swiss automatic Omega movement (Calibre 562), known for its durability and smooth winding performance.
Vintage Omega collectors actively seek unusual dial variants, and examples featuring uncommon textures such as this grid dial rarely surface on the market. Its distinctive design makes it a standout piece for enthusiasts who appreciate the subtle variety found within vintage Omega production.
This watch is fitted with a new black leather strap complete with Omega signed buckle that compliments the monochrome dial perfectly, offering a timeless and versatile look suitable for both formal and everyday wear.
Here at Stonebridge Watches we like to source the finest and often rarest Omega Seamasters available. This edition is so rare we have only encountered one such example found on a forum. We are yet to find another sold or currently for sale elsewhere on the internet from the past few years. Therefore (maybe?) your only chance to own this stunning and beautiful timepiece.
Presented in very good condition, especially given it's age and it has been recently overhauled (Feb 2025) with a daily accuracy under 30 seconds.
